Anyone here ever participate in the madness known as Black Friday? If you do go out shopping for those ridiculous deals this year, be sure to tell us about your buys in this thread.

Any shopping I do during this madness is on the internet. I've bought computer hardware on sale around this time, too, and had it shipped.

We did it once back in 2010... ended up seeing the lines around the block in 15 degree weather at 11:30pm. Said to hell with it and drove home and went to bed. Vowed never to waste our time again!

I used to hit Walmart the day before Christmas now I buy gift cards. People that don't buy me anything get fast food cards. People who do get Walmart or Chili's gift cards. If it's one of my brother's grand kids and I know they're tight on cash I take that into consideration.

I have relatives that are compulsive about shopping the day after Thanksgiving. It's a proverbial full-contact sport, and a must-win at any cost competition, judged by who got the best deals after spending a tremendous amount of money. To them, getting a deal means they are able to acquire more stuff. The champion, ultimately, is judged to have bought the most stuff. The loser argues they have more quality stuff.

I see a huge garage sale full of unused junk in their future.

They throw away a lot of stuff.

And the electric company has shut off their power every so now and then.

They really have their priorities in order, don't they?

Priorities are irrelevant to them; sibling rivalry is all that matters. During a party, you can go over and talk to them, but soon they will leave you and get back with each other to see what else they have to compete against.
