Back in the day, I found Dragon's Lair impossible. You couldn't get 30 seconds on the game without losing all your lives. In the late 90's I found the game ported to PC and was able to play to my hearts content. I got much farther into the game, but I don't remember finishing the game; eventually lost interest. Recently I saw some playthroughs on youtube.

I always got Dragon's Lair and Dungeons and Dragons mixed up. Don't ask why.

Similar scenarios and concept, but you don't die quite as goofy as Dirk the Daring. Tremendous quarter eater.

If you've ever played Ninja Gaiden, you know the game is insanely hard, and somebody has to be really good to breeze through the game like this guy does.

That's pretty much identical to Castlevania.

The death scenes are almost as long as the play-through.
