I just read they're going to cut back on the number of seats available for Nascar races so they can jack up the prices even higher than they are now. They say it will make fans who wait till the last minute to get their tickets buy more expensive seats instead of waiting and buying cheaper seats later and take a chance on not getting any. If you've ever been to a Sprint cup (or whatever it used to be called) race you already know how much it sucks to have to wait in line to get in, use the bathroom and buy a hot dog or a soda pop. They make sure there's plenty of places to buy beer and peanuts so you don't have to stand in line too long but that's about it. If you want a more pleasant less crowded Nascar experience go to a nationwide or a truck race. They usually don't have half the attendance that the Sprint cup races get.

If they jack the prices up it will definitely hurt attendance. NASCAR fans don't screw around and they definitely won't tolerate being gouged.

I think this only applies to individual tracks... some are updating and adjusting seating and other functions.

They were talking about doing the same thing at Auto Club Speedway aka Fontana about 5 years ago. Reducing the number of available seats and raising ticket prices. That might fly here in Cali because there's plenty of Nascar fans out here with deep pockets that wouldn't mind getting rid of the fans who don't. They added more seats at Dodger Stadium a few years ago for the rich folk that want to sit up close without sitting next to poor folk. With all the money they got from the new TV deal they could afford to cut prices for everything but according to the internet they're planning on raising the prices on everything instead. I haven't been to a game in years and when I have gone I got free tickets. I used to buy at least one Dodger Dog everytime I went but now they charge $5 for one and $10 for a small beer to wash it down. Now I eat before the game or wait until I get home and make a freakin' cheap bologna sandwich and wash it down with a bottle of Great Value water that costs me about 10 cents a bottle when I buy a 35 pack at Walmart.
